While the artist excels in oil and mixed media painting, it is his encaustic work that has garnered him international attention. Encaustic painting is experiencing a resurgence in popularity of late, yet there are few artists who have pushed the medium to such refinement as is typical in Capolongo’s work. In the Shadow of the Sun is a new book just released in April 2008
by award winning Canadian poet Carol Ramsden Deckert. The cover illustration
is a detail of artist Bruno Capolongo’s Nightglow (encaustic, 2004), reversed
and altered slightly. Deckert writes powerful verse with great range – from the
blissfully contemplative to the disturbingly ominous. Signed copies of the book
may be secured by contacting the artist, or by ordering from bookstores.
